38. Brahim and Sela Rrukeçi, Mitrovica, Kosova, 2000
Standing in the ruins of their home, the parents of Bashkim Rrukeçi hold his identity card, the only remaining photo of their son. He was murdered by Serbian paramilitaries in 2000 after the family returned from exile, when the war was supposed to be over. Later, I was able to give the Rrukeçis photos of Bashkim that I had taken in 1997.
