Life During Wartime (Farewell to Kosova)

In 1998 I was unable to travel to Kosova because the Yugoslavian Embassy in Washington refused to issue me a visa; additionally, officials at the embassy "lost" my passport. I quickly acquired another and accompanied a British aid group--Operation Angel--to northern Albania, where the first refugees from the ethnic strife in Kosova were fleeing.

In 1999 and 2000 I returned to Kosova, and, with the help of grants from ArtsLink Collaborative Projects, worked on a photo project with a group of young Kosovars; they produced a record of their lives after the war. The subsequent exhibits were viewed in Austin and Prishtina.
